It was fantastic to see the wealth of colour and imagination that went into the costumes of characters from books for World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March. It certainly added to the fabulous atmosphere in the school in the day dedicated to promoting reading and a love of books.
What a lot of literacy activity was in evidence on Thurs 3rd and Fri 4th March. Children read lots of interesting books and heard lots of stories and poems. Parents of children in the school came in to share stories with the classes, older children read to younger children using books … and even ipads and teachers read to lots of classes. Children learned about authors, designed book covers, book marks, wrote book reviews … and some even wrote their own books.
We hope these events will help remind children what worlds await them in books and fan an enthusiasm for reading that will enhance their lives.
Many thanks to all who helped make the events such a success.
