Focusing on Food

It was a busy week last week in Ms Hennessy’s 3rd class as we looked at the history of food and farming. We talked about food in the past, interviewed parents and grandparents to see what they ate and how  different it was to our diet. Ms Hennessy brought in an old milk bottle and told the class about how the birds would peck through the foil tops and help themselves to the cream on top of the milk!

We also made butter from cream which we shook in our glass jars (with lids on!) until the liquid and fat molecules separated to give us tasty butter. As you can see from the photos, the whole class enjoyed the fruits of their labour on some crackers.
