The children in Ms. Leddy’s First Class planted Cowslips in our school grounds with a little help from staff and from South Dublin County Council. They planted cowslips as they are pretty yellow flowers but most importantly they attract pollinator insects such as bees and butterflies. It is important to help pollinators because they help with the survival of many vegetable and fruits crops as well as 78% of the wild flowers in Ireland. If you have a little bit of outdoor space you could also do a little bit to help the pollinators by planting flowers that are pollinator friendly, using less pesticides or even create your very own bug hotel!
