World Book Day
The past few weeks have been very busy here in Holy Rosary Primary School. We celebrated World Book Day on March 5th by dressing up as our favourite book character and reading throughout the day. Well done to all the boys and girls on the fabulous costumes. We ask you, the parents, to support this initiative by encouraging your child to read at home, by taking them to the local library and by reading aloud to them.
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Throughout this week we have a range of activities designed to give the children an appreciation of the Irish language and culture. On Tuesday, we held “Lá Glas” when the children wore something green to school. On Wednesday the children enjoyed a concert in the hall by professional Irish musicians. On Thursday, we have our Ceilí Mór. The children have been practising hard with a little help from Elaine and their teachers and on Friday, we finish the week with a ceolchoirm mór. All classes will do a little performance. A great weeks activities.
Confirmation
6th class pupils will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday, 20th March at 12.30pm. We hope they and their families have a lovely day.
There will be tea and coffee available in the hall for the families of the confirmation children after the service. Traditionally 5th class parents have helped out at this reception so if you have an hour or so to spare on the day please contact Kathleen on 086 0276666 HSCL for further details.
Cake Sale and Coffee Morning
The Parents’ Association would like to invite you to a coffee morning on Friday, 27th March at 9.30am in the school hall to celebrate the end of the school term.
3rd class pupils will also hold a cake sale on this day for all pupils. Please support generously.
We would like to thank the Parents’ Association for the PE mats and trolley recently purchased for the school. They are getting great use!
Book Money
There are still quite a number of students with outstanding book bills. We would appreciate if you could settle up any unpaid book money as soon as possible. Unpaid bookbills are placing a huge burden on school finances.
Field
It has come to our attention that quite a number of parents and children are taking shortcuts across the field when entering and leaving school. We would ask you to please use the footpaths as the field is still under review by the builder and it also drags mud and dirt in to the school in this wet and muddy weather.
Other Notices
The Knitting Club will be selling Easter Chicks on the yard during the week of the Easter holidays. All monies raised will go to Barrettstown.
